Preschool
A. General Information

                  The NPC Preschool is a three year program designed to develop children’s skills cognitively, emotionally, socially, physically, and linguistically.
Required age of entry to the NPC Preschool*
                                               Kindergarten I (Kg1):  3 Years
                                               Kindergarten II (Kg2):  4 Years
                                               Kindergarten III (Kg3):  5 Years
Children must reach the required age of school-entry on or before January 31st in order to register for the program.

          The preschool provides a thematic program of learning through play. Indoor and outdoor activities are integrated in a well-prepared program planned to prepare them for the more challenging environment of the elementary level.
          Children are observed for areas of strength or weakness and those with signs of learning difficulties are closely monitored and assessed so that they may benefit from remedial intervention at an early stage of their development.

          Preschool starts the last week of September and ends the second week of June. Classes are Monday through Friday with the following daily schedule:
                                      Ras Beirut:  7:45 AM to 2:05 PM
                                      Kfarchima:  7:45 AM to 1:45 PM 
          Registration for the NPC Preschool begins February 15 and remains open until vacancies are filled. Priority is given to siblings of current NPC students.

 




B. Kindergarten I

At the end of the school year, KG1 students will be able to:

  • Participate in group work
  • Play and interact well with other children
  • Show appropriate social behavior
  • Take care of personal belongings and needs
  • Show eye-hand coordination
  • Name shapes
  • Name colors
  • Recite numbers
  • Show eye- hand coordination
  • Recognize graphic forms
  • Understand and apply different concepts
  • Understand and follow instructions
  • Relates what they learn to daily life situations



C. Kindergarten II

 

At the end of the KG2 students will be able to:

·         Participate in group work

·         Play and interact well with other children

·         Show appropriate social behavior

·         Take care of personal belongings and needs

·         Control fine motor skills

·         Control gross motor skills

·         Show eye-hand coordination

·         Name shapes

·         Name colors

·         Complete and create  a pattern

·         Show eye- hand coordination

·         Recognize and write  graphic forms

·         Understand and apply different concepts

·         Understand and follow instructions

·         Relate what they learn to daily life situations

·         Write numbers from 1-10

·         Matches numbers to equal sets

·         Recognize and write some English letters 

·         Recognize the sound of these  letters

·         Decode letters in words

·         Match words with the same sound

·         Use  English language to retell stories

·         Recognize and write  own name

·         Understand standard Arabic language

·         Use standard Arabic to retell stories

·         Acquire readiness for reading and writing

 




D. Kindergarten III

 

At the end of the KG3 students will be able to:

·         Participate in group work

·         Play and interact well with other children

·         Show appropriate social behavior

·         Take care of personal belongings and needs

·         Control fine motor skills

·         Control gross motor skills

·         Show eye-hand coordination

·         Name and draw 2 and 3 dimensional shapes

·         Complete and create a pattern

·         Understand and apply different concepts

·         Understand and follow instructions

·         Relate what they learn to daily life situations

·         Write numbers from 1-30

·         Can perform addition and subtraction operations

·         Recognize and write  letters 

·         Recognize the sound of letters

·         Read and write words with short vowel sound

·         Have suitable phonological awareness

·         Can express himself/herself in English

·         Write own full name

·         Understand standard Arabic language

·         Use standard Arabic to retell stories

·         Can read and write simple Arabic words
